hey there!

hi i’m elle, I write cozy small-town stories

So many people crave that feeling of finding a place that feels like home, where you love your place in the world and feel connected to friends, family and neighbors. My books are filled with cozy small town cottages and people, who despite their faults and quirks, are at their core, lovable. I believe that we find belonging in ourselves first, and then in others, our surroundings.

My characters often arrive in a town or return to an old house carrying questions, grief, or hope, and through friendship, romance, and second chances, they begin to find a sense of home within themselves.

This is basically my own journey as well. I wanted to share the stories that were bouncing around in my noggin, but I was afraid I would be terrible. So I got an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction (you wouldn’t know by my punctuation skills!), along with degrees in cultural anthropology and art history.

Curiosity is my middle name (not literally, it’s Roselle!)—with too many hobbies to count. I love journaling (often with stickers, because a part of me is still five), slow stitching, tarot, reading, walking in nature, and exploring the world around me. Much to my husband’s horror I pick up almost every feather I find and keep them! But underneath all of it is the same longing my heroines carry: the desire to create a place where I truly belong, and to celebrate the everyday beauty of home and community.

It’s cliche to say, but I write the kind of books that make you want to cuddle up in your favorite nook in the couch with a cat or two, with your favorite cup of tea and spend some time with your book besties.

this is my why

I write cozy stories because, at a time when I felt lonely and unsure, getting lost in a fictional small town lifted me up. They gave me hope, reminded me to believe in myself, and showed me that everyone—no matter how tangled their past—deserves a happy ending. I write to do the same for my readers, with stories that calm the nervous system, and remind you that you belong and are worthy of love, just as you are.

cherry pie

There is nothing better than a cup of tea and a slice of home made pie. What’s even better is sharing it with a friend over juicy conversation, and snort laughs. Nothing feels more like home. Everyone loves pie!

free time

When I was little we’d sit in the meadow and search for four leaf clovers. I usually found at least one. The field also provided dandelions for ‘making butter,’ and wild daisies for making fairy crowns.

cozy cottages

My grandparents had a cottage when I was growing up and we spent hours on the porch swing napping the long summer days away. It was the only time in my life that seemed to crawl by as I dreamed.

I write stories that remind us that everyone deserves a cozy blanket, cup of tea, and a place to belong.
