After a painful breakup, Olivia “Liv” Carter heads back to Pinebrook—the small lakeside town she once called home—hoping that helping out at her parents’ cozy bed and breakfast will be the distraction she needs. What she didn’t expect? Ethan Callahan, her high school sweetheart, is back too. Now he’s running the local adventure company, and their paths keep crossing in the most inconvenient ways.
As they’re thrown together to plan the town’s summer festival, old sparks start to fly—and so do the unresolved feelings they both thought were long buried. But with so much history between them, can Liv and Ethan finally let go of the past and find their way back to each other? Or is this second chance at love destined to sink like a paddleboat on the lake?
Full of small-town charm, swoon-worthy moments, and a dash of summer magic, Second Chance Summer is a heartwarming story about finding love where you least expect it… again.

second chance romance
🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️
I’ve always loved the idea of returning home after life throws a few curveballs, and Second Chance Summer was born from that feeling. I wanted to write about rekindling old flames, especially when the setting is a charming lakeside town that’s just as much a character as the people in the story.
Ethan Callahan is rugged, outdoorsy, and has a heart as big as the lake he grew up near. He’s the owner of the town’s outdoor adventure company, but under his strong exterior, he’s still carrying a torch for his high school sweetheart. Ethan is protective, a little stubborn, but always loyal to those he loves.
Second Chance Romance with a side of small-town charm. Liv and Ethan’s love story is all about navigating their shared past while rediscovering what made them fall for each other in the first place.
The story takes place in Pinebrook, a picturesque lakeside town where Liv’s family runs the bed and breakfast. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone, and summer festivals are the biggest events of the year. The town has a cozy, nostalgic feel, perfect for falling back in love.
Sweet with a hint of spice. Liv and Ethan’s chemistry is undeniable, and while there are plenty of tender, emotional moments, the heat between them definitely rises as they spend more time together.
The lakeside setting in Second Chance Summer was inspired by my grandparents’ cottage on Harsen’s Island, Michigan. Growing up, I spent summers there, and the peaceful vibe and close-knit community of the island are reflected in Pinebrook’s charm. It’s the kind of place where life slows down, and romance feels a little more possible.
